Ex- Physician Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor now faces charges for carrying out assaults against 38 victims who were patients.
Details of the Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A senior CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the forty-five charges comprise:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
