Football Analyst Chris Sutton Battles Singer Olly Murs in Top Flight Forecasts

The Gunners' 10-game winning streak came to an end by Sunderland prior to the international break, but can the English top division frontrunners bounce back against local foes Spurs this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against AI, readers and a range of guests.

In the twelfth round, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.

The singer's latest record, Knees Up, is available on Friday.

Football and Parenting Life

Murs is a skilled footballer as well as a successful artist and has been a star of multiple charity football games over time - but he is not planning a serious return as a footballer.

"{I actually played in a benefit match the other evening for a mate of mine," he said. "The team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my daughter or boy decides to play instead."

Murs and his spouse his partner have a young family, their daughter and their son, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.

"I will not push football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their weekend football side," he said.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously was involved with a soccer team for a while too.

"My father coached with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I get it from. He managed our side for several seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues may have to be patient for their star's return from injury but their offense is already stronger with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this fixture will be quite tight, though. Burnley are disciplined and their sole at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

This smells of a 1-1 draw to me, but I am in fact going to go with the London side to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.

The expert's forecast: 1-2

The singer's pick: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have lost their past two matches - although both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, West Ham won back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.

West Ham's sole on the road win this season came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was previously that team's manager.

So, what exactly do I go with here - will it be the Hammers extending their run under Nuno, or the home side bouncing back?

I am going to choose the Cherries, because I think what happened against Aston Villa was a blip.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

Olly's prediction: Bournemouth are performing strongly but the visitors have improved under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were considered one of the frontrunners for relegation before the season began, but they have impressed a several people under their manager and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four games.

A family member told me to select Bees striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.

The forward will probably score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support Brentford at Amex Stadium.

They have not had great fortune on the travel this term, and Brighton are always decent at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to attack on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's side pose much more of a danger.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

Olly's view: It could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a lot of scores but it in reality proves to be rather tight. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a huge fixture for Fulham, who have lost five of their past six games.

They have got lots of talent in their squad but it still feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone battle.

As for Sunderland, well they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.

The away side's performance in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We have not witnessed any other team rough up the North London side like that this term, and they were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing would be to support the Black Cats here, because they are clearly capable of disrupting the hosts up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they beat the Blues at the end of October.

However I am not going to choose that. Instead, I really need to carry on opposing the away team with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of credit for their positive outcomes because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.

Considering Fulham's at Craven Cottage record, the sole team they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely desperate for a positive outcome, so I am going to predict they will pick up three points.

The expert's prediction: 1-0

Olly's prediction: I know the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that the hosts are on a poor run... but Fulham have still been decent at home this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard fixture to call. The Reds have lost seven of their past 10 games in every tournament, but might they be one of the sides who profit from the {international break|
