LA Explodes in Celebration as Los Angeles Dodgers Claim Back-to-Back World Series Championship
Los Angeles witnessed widespread celebrations after the Los Angeles Dodgers won a nail-biting seven-match World Series championship. Fans worldwide united with Angelenos in celebration, marking the first time in 25 years that a franchise has secured back-to-back championships.
Victory Parade Draws Massive Crowds
Local celebrations included a procession through the city center on the morning of the parade, a ticketed rally at the team's home stadium, and spontaneous parties throughout the city.
Social media videos depict countless of Los Angeles residents flooding city center avenues, many carrying homemade signs and Dodger flags. The team was seen traveling proudly on a double-decker bus through the masses, raising the Commissioner’s trophy high.
“I’m already thinking about the third time we’re going to do this,” Shohei Ohtani stated through an interpreter.
The parade route concluded at Dodger Stadium, where the team walked out to the rapper’s “Not Like Us,” with DJ Mustard spinning music and the artist driving a Pacific blue vintage Cadillac around the field.
Early Celebrations and Athlete Responses
Festivities began well before the procession, with supporters setting off fireworks in the roads of Downtown Los Angeles on the previous evening.
The World Series MVP, awarded the MVP of the championship, commented plainly about the win.
“Losing is not an option,” Yamamoto said. “I adore this team. This city means everything to me.”
Varied Responses and City Unity
In contrast, the team owner was met with a cooler reception at the rally. Video footage from the gathering appear to show Walter taking the stage to a mix of cheers and jeers, with negative shouts punctuating his address.
The championship served as a bright spot in what has been a trying year for the city. An estimated quarter-million people showed up to the championship parade last year, and according to Dodgers player Freddie Freeman, fans this year demonstrated as much if not more enthusiasm.
“It seems it’s almost double from last year,” Freeman remarked. “These fans are crazy. It’s so awesome to be a part of this.”
