Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's natural for questions to be raised about his future after another convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in twelve matches, marking the team's poorest run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got significant support from the top,” the coach commented.

“It's important to turn it around and get a victory naturally but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they back me.”

He added, “Through standard conversations we have I sense the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them after this match yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Issues and Player Reaction

The manager highlighted known failings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It is not good enough. I don't need to wait to reflect. I’m past being angry inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a period such as this with performances this poor.”

Jones finished, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And until that badge is taken away, we’re always going to fight.”

“We will attempt to help the side return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
