The visionary game developer, who helped create the globally famous first-person shooter Call of Duty, has died in a vehicle crash in California at the age of 55.

Zampella's death was announced by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, the development studio that he helped create.

The renowned industry figure died after his vehicle was involved in a crash and burst into flames on a motorway in Los Angeles on this past Sunday, as reported by.

"This represents a heartbreaking loss, and we stand with Vince's loved ones, his loved ones, and all those touched by his work," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts said.
